All About the Camino
Thursday August 13, 2015 at 7:00 pm EST.
Today many people are aware of the Camino pilgrimage route in Spain thanks to great films like The Way, the Camino Documenary: Six Ways to Santiago and Las Peregrinas. Some people like to walk alone and others prefer to be in a group. For the last 10 years Sue Kenney, best-selling author of the book My Camino
, has been leading groups on this famous medieval pilgrimage route and she has a lot of experience. On this Google Hangout, Sue will share some of her experiences walking 800 kms alone in 2001 and what she has learned leading multiple groups. We will cover: A short history of the Camino and why pilgrims walk. What time of year is best. You'll learn what the trail/path is like and what to to wear. A couple of tips on training and walking barefoot to strengthen your feet, avoid injuries and blisters. (Sue has walked the last 3 Camino's barefoot.) To carry or not carry a backpack. What the accommodation is like and how to avoid not having a place to stay. Bathroom facilities. Camino etiquette and more. You will have a chance to email your questions during the call and Sue will endeavour to answer as many as possible. To open the possibility for more people to experience the Camino, Sue is offering a $600.00 busary to offset the Fees for the October Group Camino. To apply contact email@example.com
Everyone is welcome on the call even if you don't plan to walk but you want to learn more. Feel free to invite your friends too. The Camino is for all to experience. It is a place of community and peace.
