Are you ready to embark on a sacred journey that could shift the direction of your life to be more aligned with your authentic self? 2014-05-20-0130-Camino de Santiago-2-MThis spiritual pilgrimage has been designed for individuals who are interested in experiential travel that involves going on a walking journey of self-discovery and adventure. You’ll slow your life down to 4 kilometers an hour while living the simple life of a pilgrim and learn how to apply this as a metaphor for being on your own life journey with purpose.
 
Ever since Sue Kenney walked the Camino in 2001, her dream has been to serve others on their journey. To help, educate, guide and contribute in various different ways. Once again, You can join Sue on this journey and step into the footsteps of millions of pilgrims who have walked this path before you. We’ll follow the Camino Frances route of the medieval pilgrimage path known as the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in the north of Spain. You don’t have to worry about any of the planning. Sue will be your Camino guide, coach and sherpa if neccessary.
 
You’ll reconnect with nature, by forest bathing as you walk through the Galician forests and beautiful landscapes. Women and men of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. You will be coached with a training program on how to walk 20 kms a day, what to pack and everything else you need to know to be a pilgrim. The next journey starts May 15, 2016. The group will meet in Ponferrada, Spain and arrive in Santiago after 11 days of walking. We begin our pilgrimage experiencing the culture and history of the city of the famous Knights Templar Castle. We will on this medieval pilgrimage route for an average 20 kilometers a day.
 
Each night the accommodation is booked for you and in private pilgrim albergues, rural pensions or hotels. There is the option to have your backpack shipped to the next stop so you only have to carry a day pack.

Fall Meeting Camino Pilgrims of London

safe_imageThe Fall meeting of the Camino Pilgrims of London (Ontario, Canada) will take place on Sunday, November 1st at St John the Evangelist, 280 St James in the parish hall (off Wellington) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
We will welcome back returned pilgrims and give shells to those with pilgrimage  intent.

Picking up Stones

IMG_9759On October 5th, I started My Camino Group Pilgrimage Retreat with a group of 6 pilgrims. We arrive in Samos and spent some time at the 6th Century Monastery there and the next day we travelled to Sarria to begin. We walked the last 115 kilometers to Santiago, Spain as our destination.

Today many people are aware of the Camino pilgrimage route in Spain thanks to great films like The Way, the Camino Documenary: Six Ways to Santiago and Las Peregrinas. Some people like to walk alone and others prefer to be in a group. For the last 10 years Sue Kenney, best-selling author of the book My Camino, has been leading groups on this famous medieval pilgrimage route and she has a lot of experience. On this Google Hangout, Sue will share some of her experiences walking 800 kms alone in 2001 and what she has learned leading multiple groups. We will cover: A short history of the Camino and why pilgrims walk. What time of year is best. You’ll learn what the trail/path is like and what to to wear. A couple of tips on training and walking barefoot to strengthen your feet, avoid injuries and blisters. (Sue has walked the last 3 Camino’s barefoot.) To carry or not carry a backpack. What the accommodation is like and how to avoid not having a place to stay. Bathroom facilities. Camino etiquette and more. You will have a chance to email your questions during the call and Sue will endeavour to answer as many as possible. I love the thrill of living a simple life, carrying a backpack and just walking everyday. To be honest though, there is always a little fear thrown in, even as a seasoned pilgrim I never know what the Camino has in store for my group or for me.
