Once upon a time, there was a town terrified by a dragon. The beast demanded a maiden per week to eat, and one day, it was the princess’ turn to be offered to the dragon. The young knight Jordi heard abou tthe princess’ fate and decided to save her. He fiercely fought the dragon and while the creature fell mortally wounded something amazing happened: from the blood on the floor a beautiful redrose grew. Jordi picked the flower and gave it to the princess as a sign of his love, and they lived happily ever after. Sant Jordi (Saint George) is the patron of Catalonia, and we Catalans use this story to celebrate our love day the 23th of April, on the saint day.To do so, we offer roses and books to our loversand loved ones. For most of us it is one of the most special day of the year back home, and we would like to bring a little of its spirit to Toronto, and share it with you all. We have prepared a weekend full of activities for all, and we would love you to join us in as many of them as you like.

Dear Sue,
I was introduced to the Camino by my friend and trainer, Matthew Wivell, and I completed it in 2011. Matthew had always encouraged me to read your books. I finally took the time to read it and could not believe the similarities we share and I could not put it down. I felt I was reading something I wrote. It was amazing. When I told Matthew this, he said why do think I continued to tell you to read it. Anyway, I am now reading your Confessions of a Pilgrim. Thank you for writing these and I am starting to write my own Camino book, however slow I am but at least I started. Thanks for the inspiration however I don’t think I will ever walk barefoot. Buen Camino!

Eating organic, raw, nutricious meals, doing yoga/meditating, seeing holistic health practicioners and growing spiritually are all elements of a holistic aproach to life. There is one piece we may have forgotton and it’s right under our feet: Mother Earth. We started wearing shoes and it quickly became a gauge of status cutting us off from a life source. What lies in the ground provides our body with a key component to heal itself. This is my first workshop on Barefoot Healing. I’m quickly becoming an expert in this field and feel that I’ve been called to do this work. I welcome the chance to come to your community and speak/workshop.

Caity, who hosts the podcast for Run Barefoot Girl is an incredible woman who felt that there weren’t enough women racing barefoot at events and decided to do something about it. She interviews the people who are leading this movement, sharing their stories with the world. I had the distinct pleasure of spending some time with her on the phone for this podcast and here’s our conversation. I tell a story of a barefoot experience in a theatre arts class when I was 18.

In June, 2011, I bought a pair of barefoot minimalist shoes and started wearing them everywhere I went. My feet and legs ached for the first month. I almost gave up on them. Then I took them with me on the Camino in July as my spare shoes. They were perfect. Back at home I found myself longing to take my shoes off. So I did and that started me on a new path in my life. Barefoot walking.

Hi Sue
I want to congratulate you on your book: My Camino.
It is not a book I would have purchased since I’m purging the bookshelves of my life these days. I am welcoming digital learning primarily…less to carry around or dust off!
It is my plan to walk the Camino de Santiago this year, at least to start the way. It has drawn me for several years but I have chosen to trek up Mount Kilimanjaro and hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu instead, thinking that the Camino would be ‘too easy’. And, wanting a map of the Camino, and some tips for the journey, I’ve been reviewing books with a view of more practical application. And then your offer arrived, and the price was right, and I had some quiet moments today, so I downloaded the first few bits.
