Barefoot Healing Workshop

September 27, 2014. 9am-noon.

with Sue Kenney

Watch Rogers Daytime on Wednesday September 24 at 11am, 4pm and 11pm to see Sue talking about the healing benefits of barefooting in the home, the studio and outdoors.

Join this workshop and discover the healing powers of going BAREFOOT. Not only will you improve your posture, balance and flexibility, you can help your body to heal itself. You have 7000 sensory nerve endings on the bottom of each foot and their job is to help your body adapt all the systems to the environment you are in. Through the studies done on Earthing or grounding, we have learned that we connect with negatively charged electrons in the earth. They are the most powerful antioxidants known and neutralize free radicals to contribute to a natural healing process . Wearing shoes with rubber soles has cut us off from this incredible gift the earth has to offer. It involves more than just taking off your shoes.
Learn about nature’s healing and how you can integrate this forgotten component of a holistic approach to everyday life.

WALKING THE CAMINO: SIX WAYS TO SANTIAGOsafe_image

Doc Days of Summer: Presenting encores of the summer’s best documentaries.

Walking the Camino: Six Ways to Santiago follows travellers from the ages of three to 73, as they attempt a pilgrimage across an entire country on foot, carrying only a backpack, a pair of boots and an open mind. Driven by an inexplicable calling and a grand sense of adventure, each pilgrim throws their heart and soul into their physical trek to Spain’s Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, and into their personal journey to find themselves. This 500-mile trek is no small undertaking, yet more than 200,000 people attempt the arduous journey across the rugged landscape each year. Whatever their motivation, no one can predict just how their paths will unfold, or what transformations they will undergo as they reach the trail’s end. Featuring breathtaking vistas, the Camino comes to life in this inspiring look at its magnetic

Entertaining Barefoot.

This is a fantastic article that came out in Yahoo Food written by Julia Bainbridge. It is a movement folks.

Why You Should Entertain Barefoot

Julia Bainbridge

Assuming that when you entertain you’re doing so in your own home, you can do it however you want. You can serve eggplant because you’ve been craving it all week. You can play “Birth of the Cool” on repeat for the entire evening. And you don’t have to wear shoes if you don’t want to.

Muskoka Novel Marathon

Barefoot Walk for Creativity

Once again writers unite. This weekend is the Muskoka Novel Marathon, an event that promotes and raises money for literacy. I participated in 2004 and 2005, in both cases with Bruce Pirrie. We co-wrote 2 different manuscripts and raised money for this cause as well. In 2006 we went back with a crew to shoot a film about the event called FlipBook with aIMG_2217 group of talented artists who created a film to share this cause with the world.

Sarah Slean in Barebottoms on Mariposa Folk Festival Main Stage

Posted July 8, 2014 | by Sue Kenney | in Barefoot | no responses

On Friday night, the Juno and Gemini award-winning singer/composer/song writer Sarah Slean stepped out on the main stage in a gorgeous white dress and teal blue Barebottom Shoes. She drew attention to her dress calling it a “Jetson’s Dress” and then I heard the words from the back of the audience. Sarah pointed out her Barebottom Shoes! She said wearing them made her feel like a forest nymph. Then she suggested the audience go to my booth and buy a pair. What an incredible testimonial! Crowds visited us throughout the weekend and lots of people tried on the shoes and bought too.DSCN2653 DSCN2663 DSCN2657

Practical Barefooting FREE Webinar June 25

Posted June 24, 2014 | by Sue Kenney | in Barefoot | no responses

photo 1 (2) In Step One, we covered some reasons people might want to go barefoot and how to overcome the fears and social barriers that might get in the way. In Step Two, we’re going to delve into what it’s really like going barefoot (outside your home!) and what to expect out of it.

We’ll talk about our own definitions of what it means to be “barefooters,” discuss the wide variety of physical and social environments in which barefooting is both possible and practical, and offer strategies for making it work for people who want to do it.

We’ll be discussing our own experiences: Sue Regan Kenney (designer of Barebottom Shoes) will talk about her recent 225km barefoot walk on the Camino, and Stephanie Welch (author of the upcoming Human Body User Manual will share her experiences in both urban and natural environments. We’ll also both share our experiences and perspectives on barefoot running.DSC_1007

Based on feedback and questions from the first webinar we held in May, we have even more facts, tips and ideas to share with you along the way. And we’ll be answering more questions again live at the end. (Be sure to add yours in the Q&A app, either in advance or during the event!) We will announce a special offer on the purchase of Barebottom Shoes on the website www.barebottomshoes.com at the end of the Webinar. Don’t miss it!

Know someone you’d like to share more about barefooting with? Feel free to invite friends and family by forwarding them this registration link.
