A Barefoot Workshop with Sue Kenney

in Barrie, Ontario

Would you like to discover the potential healing powers of going BAREFOOT. Not only will you improve your balance and flexibility, there’s a possiblity you can help your body to heal itself.  In the book EARTHING, Clinton Ober talks about how grounding can contribute to a natural healing process. Our bodies are electrically conductive and the influx of negatively charged electrons received through direct contact with the earth neutralizes positive free radicals and the result is that it reduces inflammation in the body.

What a delight it was to do this podcast with Chris. He’s engaging, intelligent and he was inspired to go out and try barefooting. A philisophical approach to the barefoot walker/runners high as a spiritual guide to the destination of our journey.

Women Who Run with the Wolves

Women Who Run with the Wolves” by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés.

“An old witch from Ranchos told me that La Que Sabe knew everything about women, that La Que Sabe had created women from a wrinkle on the sole of her divine foot: This is why women are knowing creatures; they are made, in essence, of the skin of the sole, which feels everything. This idea that the skin of the foot is sentient had a ring of a truth, for an acculturated Kiché tribeswoman once told me that she’d worn her first pair of shoes when she was twenty years old and was still not used to walking con los ojos vendados, with blindfolds on her feet.”

Barefoot Healing Workshops

Eating organic, raw, nutricious meals, doing yoga/meditating, seeing holistic health practicioners and growing spiritually are all elements of a holistic aproach to life. There is one piece we may have forgotton and it’s right under our feet: Mother Earth. We started wearing shoes and it quickly became a gauge of status cutting us off from a life source. What lies in the ground provides our body with a key component to heal itself. This is my first workshop on Barefoot Healing. I’m quickly becoming an expert in this field and feel that I’ve been called to do this work. I welcome the chance to come to your community and speak/workshop.

Caity, who hosts the podcast for Run Barefoot Girl is an incredible woman who felt that there weren’t enough women racing barefoot at events and decided to do something about it. She interviews the people who are leading this movement, sharing their stories with the world. I had the distinct pleasure of spending some time with her on the phone for this podcast and here’s our conversation. I tell a story of a barefoot experience in a theatre arts class when I was 18.

Barefoot Walking

Posted February 16, 2012 | by Sue Kenney | in Blog | no responses

In June, 2011, I bought a pair of barefoot minimalist shoes and started wearing them everywhere I went. My feet and legs ached for the first month. I almost gave up on them. Then I took them with me on the Camino in July as my spare shoes. They were perfect. Back at home I found myself longing to take my shoes off. So I did and that started me on a new path in my life. Barefoot walking.
